About us

The Technocratic Resource Institute (TRI) is an independent research organization dedicated to the study of alternative economic and governance systems capable of meeting the challenges of the twenty-first century.

The Institute investigates whether resource-based economic models, advanced automation, ecological accounting, and democratic systems design can deliver superior outcomes to existing market-based systems in the areas of:

  • Human wellbeing
  • Economic security
  • Ecological sustainability
  • Democratic participation
  • Infrastructure resilience
  • Long-term societal stability

Our research evaluates competing institutional frameworks using measurable evidence, transparent methodologies, and systems-level analysis.

The Institute does not assume that any existing economic model is optimal. Instead, it seeks to identify, test, and refine governance structures capable of maximizing human flourishing while operating within the ecological limits of the Earth.

Our vision

TRI envisions a society governed by technical experts—scientists, engineers, and technologists—who prioritize data-driven decision-making and optimal efficiency over political ideology. Our vision seeks to replace market-based economies with scientific resource management and high-tech automation to maximize social prosperity.

TRI envisions a world that:

  • Coincides with the carrying capacity of Earth
  • Favours the scientific method as a source of explanations
  • Relies on engineering to improve human life on Earth
  • Coordinates all people to transcend national borders
  • Fulfils the necessities of life, education, health, and culture
  • Treats resources as a common heritage and engages in equitable resource sharing
  • Addresses problems via prevention using a systems approach
  • Shares and applies new technologies for the benefit of life
  • Prioritizes the production of high-quality, long-lasting products
  • Restores and enhances the natural biosystems and ecosystem services
  • Stabilizes the world’s population through education and voluntary birth control
  • Withstands and adapts to change

TRI envisions a world without:

War, poverty, crime, prisons, police, military, money, debt, servitude, disease, pollution, prejudice, artificial scarcity, nation-states, market-state, nationalism, elitism, and perverse incentives.
