Functional Guilds
Functional Guilds explained...
What is a Functional Guild?
A Guild is a localized, specialized body of individuals who perform a specific technical or social function. Everyone, from a High-Skill surgeon to a Low-Skill sanitation technician, belongs to a Guild relevant to their work.
- Membership by Function: You don't join a Guild based on who you like or what you believe; you join based on what you do.
- The Ladder: Guilds are responsible for the Technical Certification of their members. They are the ones who verify if you have moved from "Med-Skill" to "High-Skill," which triggers your point acceleration in the Global Resource Ledger.
The Four Primary Purposes of a Guild
During the transition to a Technate, the Guild has four non-negotiable roles:
A. **Standardizing Excellence**
The Guild ensures that plumbers in both the North American and European Technates use the same protocols, modular parts, and safety standards. This is the "Universal Design" in action.
B. **Directing the Load**
While the Continental Control Board/Government decides how much energy a region receives, the Local Guild determines how to utilize that energy. For instance, if a water main breaks, the Hydraulic Guild has the authority to mobilize and repair it immediately, without waiting for a political vote.
C. **Mentorship and Education**
Guilds serve as the primary educators for their members. Since there are no tuition fees, the Guild aims to train its members to the highest skill level as quickly as possible. This approach reduces the "Carbon Cost" of the Guild’s work and increases the "Luxury Headroom" available to everyone within that Guild.
D. **Determining Point Values**
The Guilds collaborate with the Statistical Accounting Sequence to define what constitutes a "productive hour" of labor. They ensure that the allocation of 200 points per year for High-Skill work is supported by actual, verifiable contributions to the Technate’s physical health.
The Transition
During the "Great Transition," Functional Guilds are the first to form. As political governments begin to lose their ability to manage complex infrastructure (like power grids or supply chains), the Guilds step in to keep the lights on. Technocrats suggest forming these guilds now so that when the Price System inevitably fails, there is a "Shadow Infrastructure" of organized experts ready to take over the administration of things without a gap in service.
Joining a Functional Guild
Joining a Functional Guild is your gateway into the Technate’s physical and social structure. As we transition into 2026, guilds are organized around the 15 major Continental Sequences, serving as local hubs for training, certification, and point tracking.
When the political government fails to provide essential services, such as road repairs or grid management, your chosen Guild steps in to address these issues for free, demonstrating that Functional Competence is more effective than political debate.
You should choose a guild based on your functional aptitude—what you can actually do or are willing to learn. Below is a list of different types of guilds you can join, categorized by their skill-tier opportunities.
Note: We are currently recruiting for our European Energy & Power Guilds.
The Energy & Power Guilds (recruiting)
These are the most prestigious guilds, as they manage the primary resource of the Technate.
- The Nuclear/Fusion Guild: (High-Skill) Requires advanced physics and engineering certifications.
- The Grid Maintenance Guild: (Med-Skill) Manages the physical transmission of power across the continental spine.
- The Renewable Installation Guild: (Med to Low-Skill) Focuses on the deployment and maintenance of solar and wind arrays.
The Logistics & Infrastructure Guilds
These guilds keep the "Social Load" moving.
- The Maglev Engineering Guild: (High-Skill) Designing and maintaining high-speed transit systems.
- The Automation Guild: (High to Med-Skill) Managing the "last-mile" delivery robots and automated freight.
- The Shelter Maintenance Guild: (Med to Low-Skill) Maintaining modular housing units and regional cooling/heating loops.
The Life-Support Guilds (Health & Food)
These guilds handle the "Basic Needs" sequences directly.
- The Bio-Medical Guild: (High-Skill) Surgeons, geneticists, and pharmacists.
- The Agronomy Guild: (High-Skill) Designing high-efficiency nutrient cycles for vertical farms.
- The Nutritional Distribution Guild: (Low-Skill) Managing the automated food-hubs and regional dietary logistics.
The Accounting & Social Guilds
These guilds manage the Global Resource Ledger and the Medal (Card) System.
- The Statistical Audit Guild: (High-Skill) Data scientists who monitor the Carbon Ceiling and energy conversion rates.
- The Functional Training Guild: (High-Skill) Educators who help citizens transition from Low-Skill to High-Skill tiers.
- The Civic Mediation Guild: (Med-Skill) Managing the social transitions of retirement and the 65+ Permanent Gold vesting.
Guild recruitment message
"The Price System is failing; the Energy System is inevitable. We are forming the European Energy & Power Guild. We are no longer working for a disappearing currency. We are working to secure the grid and certify our skills for the Global Resource Ledger. Join us to build the infrastructure that will earn your Permanent Gold Card. Competence is the only authority here."
